In the 90s and 2000s, India has grown dramatically on the back of a sustained technical skills development program and has made a mark in various fields notably IT. Engineering schools have given the impetus to a New India. However, the all round development in technical, sciences, arts, culture and humanities is still long way in the coming. India is fast catching up with the rest of the advanced nations and the need of the hour is beyond just technical skills. The need for a Liberal Arts education, which includes not just technical knowhow but also knowledge on societies, cultures and communication skills, is the need of the hour.
